In part one of ” Where Can You Play-by-Post?” we discussed three popular play-by-post sites: Role Gate, Tavern Keeper, and Gamers Plane. Hopefully, you have been able to check out one or all of them. Even better, maybe you have joined one of these sites and are on your way toward discovering all the awesomeness that play-by-post has to offer. As I’ve said before, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. In fact, that’s the whole reason the Ultimate Play-by-Post Blog was started. It is my mission to spread the word about play-by-post and to help you get the most out of your PbP experience. It’s an honor to have you along for the journey.
In this post, we’ll continue our discussion on where you can play-by-post and talk about three more popular PbP sites. So, without further ado, let’s once again delve into the burning question of where you can play-by-post?
Myth Weavers
Myth Weavers is another forum-based platform like Tavern Keeper and Gamers Plane. They boast a members list of over 548,000 and have 1,150 ongoing games (at the time of this post). They have a very active community and even host Myth Weavers Meetups, which are annual gaming events where gamers can come together and enjoy a day and a half of board games, card games, and GM led one-shot adventures.
Myth Weavers offers any type of RPG experience from D&D 5e to Star Wars and everything in between. And like always, if you can’t find the game you are looking for, you are more than welcome to start one up. The site has great tutorials and a forum where you can get any questions you may have answered.
Some of the site features include: a random dungeon generator, cave generator, NPC and town generators, and a treasure generator, name and spell generators, mapping tools, a dice roller, and various GM tools. Myth Weavers is a very feature rich site and definitely worth a look.
Although Myth Weavers is free you will have to put up with adds. There is a paid membership that lets you bypass the ads and gives you some additional features and benefits. To date the subscription fee is $36 a year, or $18 for 6 months, or $3.00 a month.

RolePlay online
RolePlay onLine is one of the oldest of the forum-based play-by-post platforms. It has a diverse and engaging community with 5,816 games currently being played on the platform (at the time of this writing) and claims 119,984 users. With more than 10 new games being created daily, it’s sure to be a place to find the type of game you’re looking for.
RPoL offers all the tools you’d expect from a play-by-post medium for game emersion, such as the ability to host character sheets with descriptions and portraits, game maps, integrated dice rollers, and more. It also supports any game system, allowing you to run or participate in whatever type of adventure you like. The site has been around since 2000 and has a very nostalgic, old-school look and feel to it.
RolePlay onLine is absolutely free to use. At one time there was a subscription level, but it isn’t currently active. You can however show support with a donation through Ko-fi or Patreon. Making a donation is by no means necessary to use and enjoy everything the site has to offer. No extra perks come with a donation nor is anything withheld if you don’t donate. It’s just a way to show some love.

RPG Crossing
The third site we will discuss is RPG Crossing, formerly known as DnDOnlineGames. Like all the entries in this article it is a forum-based platform. It boasts a 68,000+ online community that is very active and engaging. They offer guides and tutorials for both new and veteran players alike. Featured game systems include D&D, GURPS, Star Wars, and many more, with new games starting up daily.
Some of the features offered include: integrated dice roller, online character sheets, and mapping tools to name a few. New players can play in a New Player Solo Game designed as a fun and unique way to learn about using the site and about the play-by-post medium in general. There is a DM/GM Mentoring section where new or inexperienced DM/GM’s can learn and get advice from more experienced DM/GM’s about running their own games. And last, but certainly not least, RPG Crossing has its own FREE online gaming magazine called Explosive Ruins.
RPG Crossing is free to use, however it does offer a subscription level which unlocks some extra features and allows you to bypass pop up ads. Subscriptions are $4.00 a month or $36.00 a year. You are under no obligation to subscribe to be able to use and enjoy the site. If RPG Crossing sounds like your kind of place, then you can check it out here: http://www.rpgcrossing.com
